My name is Kim Jones, and I am a Jesus-loving, homesteading momma of four. My husband, children, and I live on one acre, and we have a garden, chickens, and rabbits.
I grew up on about 5 acres of land, where we had horses and goats. I learned to love being outside with my dad, who was always working on some project in or around the barn. I loved riding horses, going to horse camp, and all things horse-related. When I graduated and went to college, those things fell into the background, but my love for country living never disappeared.
After my husband and I got married, homesteading become a dream of mine. I was researching all things homestead for years before we ever planted our first seed. I am passionate about growing and raising our own food for our family. I am fascinated by the intricate systems that are present in regenerative agriculture (or sustainable agriculture/permaculture – whatever you choose to call it). Joel Salatin’s methods of regenerative agriculture are inspiring and fascinating to me.
My passions for homesteading collided with my husband’s passions for health and wellness in the crazy year of 2020. I am the one who enjoys actually researching, planning, and carrying out the work that comes with the garden and the animals, and he is the one who makes something delicious with the food that I grow or raise. Some may call it backwards – I call it God’s grace for giving me a husband who enjoys cooking!
I am so excited to share my homesteading journey with you, and hope to be a source of encouragement and education as our homestead (and my knowledge) grows. Feel free to reach out and say hi here! I’d love to hear from you!
Happy Homesteading!
